Each marketplace charge computed from your inputs, with GST applied on top of the combined fees rather than on the sale price. Commission and collection scale with the selling price; shipping and the fixed fee are flat. The tax sits on top of the deductions, which sellers routinely miss
Flipkart charges GST on the commission, shipping, collection and fixed fees it deducts — the fees are a service supplied to you, and that service is taxable. At 18% on total fees of ₹200, that is a further ₹36 out of the settlement.
This is separate from the GST on the sale itself, which the marketplace collects from the buyer. Modelling only the sale-side tax and forgetting the fee-side tax overstates the payout on every single order.
One rate does not apply across a catalogue
Commission percentages differ sharply by category, and within a category they often step at price bands, so the same product at two price points can carry different rates. Categories are also re-rated periodically.
Enter the rate for the specific category and band rather than a shop-wide average. For a catalogue spanning categories, run the tool per category — a blended rate will be wrong for every product in it.
Cash on delivery usually costs more than a prepaid order
The collection or payment-gateway fee is charged as a percentage of the order value and is commonly higher for cash on delivery than for prepaid orders, reflecting the cost and risk of collecting cash.
Where the gap is significant, it changes what a prepaid discount is worth. A discount that converts a COD order to prepaid can pay for itself out of the fee difference alone, before counting the lower return rate that usually comes with it.
Returns, and the fees that are not refunded with them
A returned order reverses the sale but not every fee attached to it. Depending on the return reason and category, shipping and collection charges may be retained and a reverse logistics charge added, so a returned order can cost more than an order never placed.
None of that is in this calculation, which prices a completed sale. For a category with a high return rate, the honest unit economics need the return rate applied across orders, not a per-order figure taken at face value.

Tested commission, shipping, collection and fixed fees summed before GST, with GST then charged on that fee total.
Tested that raising the GST rate on fees reduces settlement without changing any underlying fee.
