Overview

Calculator Matters ("we", "our", or "us") operates calculatormatters.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy, and the site is designed to be privacy-friendly by default: the numbers you enter into a calculator are processed in your browser, and the calculators do not transmit them to our servers or store them there. This policy explains what limited data is involved when you use the site, the current advertising status, cookies, and the rights you have.

Who is responsible for your data

Shatanjay Sudha, known publicly as Jay Sudha, is the data controller for this site and is responsible for the personal data described on this page. Calculator Matters is published by Shatanjay Sudha, an individual based at Khasra No. 291, Maldhan Road, Village Garhinegi, Tehsil Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand 244713, India. Your privacy at a glance

• Your calculator inputs are processed in your browser — the calculators never upload them, and we never store them on our servers. If you copy a share link, your figures travel in that address, which the server sees like any other page request.
• No personal financial data required — the calculators work directly in your browser.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• Display advertising is disabled — no AdSense script or advertising cookie is loaded.
• You stay in control — clear your browser storage to remove saved preferences and scenarios, and email us to access or delete a message you sent.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs (not collected): Calculations run client-side in your browser. The values you enter are processed locally, and the calculator never sends them to our servers.

Preferences: Your theme (light/dark/auto), sidebar state and currency choice are stored in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device. Some calculators (for example, the mortgage, break-even, and ecommerce profit calculators) can also remember the inputs you entered in localStorage so you can pick up where you left off; this likewise stays on your device, is never sent to our servers, and is cleared by that calculator's reset or clear control, or by clearing your browser storage. If you use a calculator's optional "Share link" button, your inputs are encoded into the link's web address so the recipient's browser can restore them — like any web address, a visited link's address is part of the page request. A few calculators, such as the mortgage calculator, also keep your current inputs in the page address as you change them, so a reload restores them. That address is sent with the page request when you reload or share the page, and, if you have accepted analytics, Google Analytics records it as the page location, and as the referring page on the next page you open.

Information you provide: If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send (such as your message and any contact details) so we can respond.

Calculator ratings: If you rate a calculator with the stars below it, we store the page, your 1 to 5 star rating, the date, and a one-way hash of your IP address combined with a secret value, so each visitor counts once per page. We never store the IP address itself. The ratings are kept in a Cloudflare D1 database, and each page shows only its average and count. Your own rating is also remembered in your browser's localStorage so the stars stay filled when you return.

Email updates: The site does not collect email addresses for updates, and there is no mailing list. If an optional sign-up is ever added, this policy will say what is stored, which provider sends the emails, and how to unsubscribe before the sign-up goes live.

Automatically collected technical data: Like most websites, our hosting and analytics may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages viewed. Where analytics is used, Google Analytics 4 records page views and events only after you accept on the consent banner (its script loads beforehand with measurement switched off); this data is aggregated, and calculator inputs reach it only inside a page address, as described under Preferences.

Google Analytics

Calculator Matters may use Google Analytics to understand site usage, improve calculator pages, measure performance, and analyze aggregate visitor behavior. Analytics may collect pages visited, device/browser information, approximate location, referring pages, and interaction events. Calculator Matters does not add personal information or calculator values to its analytics events; the one way inputs can reach Google Analytics is inside a page address, as described under Preferences.

Analytics event labels are generic, such as the calculator slug, category, page path, button location, download type, or search context. Search terms, result values, names, email addresses, phone numbers, and other personal or financial values are not added to them.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use browser storage for preferences and optional local scenarios, plus optional consent-controlled analytics where configured. Display advertising is currently disabled. For full detail and controls, see our website cookie settings.

Advertising and third-party vendors (Google AdSense)

Current status: Display advertising, Auto Ads, in-article ads, sidebar ads, and mobile-anchor ads are disabled. Calculator Matters does not currently load the Google AdSense script or advertising cookies.

If advertising is enabled in future, the following controls and disclosures will apply:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
• These advertising cookies and identifiers have historically included Google's DoubleClick DART cookie behaviour, which serves ads based on your visits to this and other sites; you can opt out of such personalised advertising using the links below.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info, or — in the EU/UK — at youronlinechoices.eu.

How we use information

We use the limited information described above to operate and secure the site, remember your preferences, understand consented aggregate usage where analytics is configured, and respond to messages you send us. We do not currently display or measure advertising.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. Limited technical data may be processed by hosting and consented analytics providers under their own policies. Advertising partners are not currently loaded. If targeted advertising is enabled later, applicable sharing and opt-out disclosures must be updated before activation; see Your Privacy Rights.

Service providers

These providers process data on our behalf to run the Site:

• Cloudflare hosts and delivers the Site. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and basic request data — such as your browser type and the page requested — to serve pages and protect the Site from abuse. It also stores calculator ratings (see Information we collect).
• Google Analytics measures aggregated use of the Site, and runs only after you consent.
• Google Apps Script delivers messages you send through the contact form.
• Google AdSense — Display advertising, Auto Ads, in-article ads, sidebar ads, and mobile-anchor ads are disabled. Calculator Matters does not currently load the Google AdSense script or advertising cookies.

Data we do NOT collect

We do not collect or store on our servers: your specific calculator inputs, the words or phrases you type into site search, or any payment card details.

Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data only where we have a lawful basis: your consent for configured non-essential analytics, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site, and compliance with legal obligations. Display advertising is currently disabled. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, data-protection law gives you rights over the personal data we hold about you. Calculator inputs are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers, so for most visitors there is very little to hold.

EU/UK residents (GDPR)

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing, and withdrawal of consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

India residents (DPDP Act 2023)

The site is operated from India, so India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 is the law that governs the operator directly. Under it you may ask for access to the personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected, completed or erased, nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf, and withdraw a consent you gave — as easily as you gave it. The Act also requires a route for grievances, which is the Grievance Officer named above; if a grievance is not resolved you may escalate it to the Data Protection Board of India. The DPDP Rules were notified in 2025 with a phased commencement, so some obligations take effect later than others; this page will be updated as each phase applies rather than claiming compliance with provisions that are not yet in force.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

The right to know what categories of personal information are collected and how they are used, to delete or correct it, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (including for cross-context behavioural advertising), and to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money, and third-party advertising cookies are not currently loaded. To exercise any right, email us at our contact address or use the contact page. Data retention

• Contact messages are kept for 12 months after our last reply, then deleted.
• Google Analytics keeps event-level data for 2 months, the retention period set on this Site's analytics property.
• Calculator ratings keep the IP hash for 12 months, then drop it; the star value stays in the page's average.
• Your preferences are stored in your browser until you clear them.

No email address is collected for updates, so none is kept.

International users

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for such transfers.

Children's privacy

Calculator Matters is a general-audience tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the site, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Because calculations happen in your browser, the most sensitive data — your inputs — is processed on your device. To report a security problem, see our security page.

Third-party links

Our pages may link to external sites that have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version.

Grievance Officer

Calculator Matters is operated from India, where the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules expect a named person to receive complaints about privacy or published content. That person is Shatanjay Sudha. Write to contact@calculatormatters.com with the page address and what is wrong with it, and you will have a reply within 5 days.
