Why we show ads
Calculator Matters is free to use. To cover the cost of building, hosting, and maintaining the calculators, we display advertising on some pages. Ads are how we keep every tool available without a paywall or sign-in.
What advertising does — and does not — do
- Does help fund free, independent calculators and content.
- Does not change any calculator formula, ranking, example, or result.
- Does not let advertisers write or edit our editorial content.
- Does not require you to click anything to use a calculator.
Who serves our ads
We use third-party advertising networks, primarily Google AdSense, to display ads. Google is a third-party vendor that uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Other approved networks may serve ads in the same way.
For more detail on the data these networks process, see Google's advertising technologies page and our own Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy.
Personalised vs non-personalised ads
Ad networks may show personalised ads (based on cookies and previous activity) or non-personalised ads (based only on the content of the current page and general context). The exact behaviour depends on your settings, your consent where required, and your location.
How to control the ads you see
- Manage Google personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
- Opt out of personalised advertising from many vendors at aboutads.info and Your Online Choices.
- Send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser, which we treat as an opt-out of sharing for targeted advertising where applicable.
- Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies, or browse in a private window.
Ads are clearly separate from our content
Advertising is labelled and kept visually distinct from calculator results and articles. We do not let advertisers write, edit, or influence our calculator logic, formulas, or editorial content. See our Editorial Policy for how we keep content independent.
Affiliate links
Some pages may also contain affiliate links, which are separate from display advertising. Where they appear, they are covered by our Affiliate Disclosure.

Advertising FAQ
Do ads affect the calculator results?
No. Every result comes solely from the formula shown on the page and the inputs you enter. Advertisers cannot write, edit, or influence our calculator logic, formulas, rankings, or editorial content.
Are the ads personalised, and how do I turn that off?
Ads may be personalised or non-personalised depending on your settings, consent, and location. You can opt out of personalised ads at Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info, send a Global Privacy Control signal, or block cookies in your browser — the calculators work the same either way.
Are ads clearly separated from content?
Yes. Advertising is labelled and kept visually distinct from calculator inputs, results, and articles, and ads are never presented as recommendations or results.
Do you need an account or payment to use the site?
No. Ads are what keep every calculator free — there is no paywall, no sign-in, and no payment anywhere on the site.
